Day 2 - London Sightseeing & At Leisure. A panoramic sightseeing tour with a London guide includes the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, as well as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and lots more. This afternoon perhaps shop in some of London's many boutiques. (CB) Day 3 - London - Bristol. An exciting day awaits us. First we stop to visit Salisbury where we see the gothic cathedral. Then on, via ancient Stonehenge, to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. Later, we continue to Bristol for the night. (CB) Day 4 - Bristol - Lake District. Our first stop this morning is the famous Wedgwood Pottery Centre. Then we continue on to the fine city of Chester before heading northwards to the Lake District. Tonight, dinner is at our hotel. (FB D) Day 5 - Lake District - Edinburgh. This morning we admire the stunning scenery which inspired William Wordsworth, before stopping to see his home in picturesque Grasmere. On to Scotland, with a stop at Moffat Woollens, as we make our way to Edinburgh. This evening, we'll enjoy typical Scottish hospitality at dinner in a local restaurant. (FB D) Day 6 - Edinburgh Sightseeing & At Leisure. On morning sightseeing we visit the Castle and see Holyrood House, once the home of Mary Queen of Scots. The rest of your day is at leisure. Tonight, why not join in an optional Scottish evening with dinner, Highland dancing and bagpipes? (FB) Day 7 - Edinburgh - York. We drive through the beautiful Scottish borders, stopping to see the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Then on into England and the rugged landscapes of Northumberland National Park to Viking York. Here we stroll the cobbled streets seeing the 'Shambles' and York Minster. This evening, why not enjoy dinner at a local pub? (FB) Day 8 - York - London. Today we travel south to Coventry, home of Lady Godiva, where we see its two cathedrals, side by side. From here we continue to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace and see Anne Hathaway's cottage. Then a scenic drive through the Cotswolds brings us back to London. (FB)

Day 2 - Paris Sightseeing & At Leisure. This morning's sightseeing views the Champs Elyses, Place de la Concorde, Opera and Notre Dame Cathedral on Ile de la Cite. The rest of the day is at leisure. (BB)
Day 3 - Paris - Beaune - Lyon. We travel towards Burgundy stopping in Beaune to sample some of the local vintage. Why not try some of those wonderful Burgundy specialities for lunch? Then we continue down through the Maconnais to Lyon. (BB)
Day 4 - Lyon - Avignon - Nice. Today we drive past Montelimar to the Roman Aqueduct of the Pont du Gard, built in the year 19 B.C.! Then on to Avignon to see its celebrated bridge before heading to Nice. Tonight, we'll enjoy a typical dinner in a Provencal restaurant before visiting Monte Carlo, with its famous casinos! (BB D)
Day 5 - Nice at leisure. Take a stroll under the palm trees of the seaside Promenade des Anglais, shop in the boutiques or take an excursion to the hilltop town of St. Paul de Vence. There's so much to see and do and you'll have time to enjoy it. (BB)
Day 6 - Nice - Carcassonne. This morning we see Czanne's Montagne St. Victoire before stopping in Van Gogh's Arles with time for lunch. We see the Roman Arena then through the Camargue we continue to Aigues-Mortes, point of departure for the crusades of St. Louis. We head northwards, where tonight, we dine in the shadow of Carcassonne's medieval ramparts. (BB D)
Day 7 - Carcassonne - Lourdes - Bordeaux. Morning orientation transports us back to an age of gallant knights and crusading soldiers. Later, on to the foothills of the Pyrenees and St. Bernadette's Lourdes, before heading through the Landes Forest to Bordeaux. (BB D)
Day 8 - Bordeaux - Tours. Time to shop in this elegant wine capital after an orientation of the city's main sights. Then we travel past the strange 'Futuroscope' at Poitiers to the Loire Valley and the city of Tours. (BB)
Day 9 - Tours - Paris. Today begins with an included visit to one of the Loire chteaux the fairy-tale like Chenonceau. Pausing at the Chteau of Amboise, we drive to the largest of the Loire chteaux, Chambord, to admire its architecture. Then back to Paris for the final night of our tour! (BB)

Day 2 - Madrid - Toledo - Granada. This morning a short drive brings us to Toledo, ancient capital of Castile, where sightseeing features the El Greco masterpiece, the Church of Santo Tom and a Toledo steel workshop. Then via Puerto Lapice, where Don Quixote is said to have been dubbed knight by the local innkeeper, before we arrive in Moorish Granada. (BB D)
Day 3 - Granada - Costa del Sol. Our morning sightseeing tour shows us the spectacular Alhambra Palace, former residence of the Moorish Kings. Then on towards the coast and Costa del Sol. Tonight, perhaps enjoy a fish dinner in a seaside restaurant. (BB)
Day 4 - Costa del Sol at leisure. A full day to relax on this sunny coast. You may wish to enjoy a stroll along the promenade or people-watch from a sidewalk caf. Then later, perhaps take a trip to the white-washed village of old Mijas, where you can shop for local handicrafts and feast on delicious 'tapas'. (BB)
Day 5 - Costa del Sol - Seville. Enjoy a scenic morning drive past the millionaires' resort of Marbella and on to La Linea. Here we cross to the Rock of Gibraltar, where you have a chance to explore this much disputed territory. There's time for duty-free shopping, then we travel through the Jerez countryside, home of sherry wines, to the Andalusian capital of Seville. (BB D)
Day 6 - Seville at leisure. Today we drive through the lemon and orange tree-lined streets of Seville on our sightseeing tour. We see the Bell Tower and weather vane of the Giralda and the pools and fountains of the Maria Luisa Park. This evening, why not try a little Spanish passion at a fiery flamenco show? (BB)
Day 7 - Seville - Cordoba - Madrid. We drive along the Guadalquivir Valley to the Roman-founded city of Cordoba where sightseeing features the Mosque of the Caliphs and the medieval Synagogue. Then across the plains of La Mancha, we arrive in Madrid for two nights. (BB)
Day 8 - Madrid Sightseeing & At Leisure. Our morning sightseeing tour shows us the Puerta del Sol and the Cervantes Memorial. Then time at leisure to perhaps visit the famous Prado Museum or take an excursion to the monastery-palace of Philip II at El Escorial. This evening, why not enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers in a typical 'meson'? (BB)

Day 1 - Arrive Rome. Trafalgar greets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the 'Eternal City.' This afternoon, a warm welcome from your Tour Director and a chance to get to know your fellow travellers.
Day 2 - Rome Sightseeing & At Leisure. Our morning sightseeing tour shows us the Forum, Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica. Later you'll have the opportunity to take an excursion to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and to explore the ancient catacombs on the old Appian Way. Or perhaps, shop in the designer boutiques along the elegant Via Condotti. (BB)
Day 3 - Rome - Siena - Florence. Enjoy a short drive this morning past the hilltop towns of the Latium and the Umbria. We continue into the hills of Tuscany to visit medieval Siena, famous for its Palio horse-race. There is time to have lunch in one of the cafs on the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo before continuing on to Florence. Here, sightseeing shows us the Piazza della Signoria, the Cathedral and Holy Cross Church. (BB)
Day 4 - Florence At Leisure. Your Tour Director will advise you on the best places to shop for hand-made leather and 18 carat gold jewellery. You'll witness a demonstration of Florentine craftsmanship in the Santa Croce District and then there's free time to shop or sightsee as you please. This afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to take an excursion to Pisa, famed for its Leaning Tower. (BB)
Day 5 - Florence - Verona - Venice. This morning we enjoy a leisurely drive to Verona, Shakespeare's city of Romeo and Juliet as well as the 'Two Gentlemen'. Here an orientation tour will show us the Roman Arena and for the romantics, the balcony of Juliet. Then it's a short drive to magical Venice for two nights. (BB D)
Day 6 - Venice At Leisure. The perfect way to absorb this city's unique sights and sounds is on an included canal cruise to St. Mark's Square. We will see the Byzantine Basilica and magnificent Doges' Palace before a demonstration of glass-blowing at a Murano glass factory. Then free time to discover some of the other islands in the lagoon and perhaps enjoy a fresh seafood lunch in one of the typical restaurants. (BB D)
Day 7 - Venice - Assisi. Enjoy a morning drive along the Adriatic Coast to the Roman town of Ravenna. Here we'll visit the Church of St. Apollinaris in Classe with its incredible Byzantine mosaics. Then on to mystical Assisi, perched on Mount Subasio and overlooking a peaceful Umbrian landscape. Our sightseeing tour includes a guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis, famous for its fresco paintings depicting the life of this much-loved saint. (BB D)
Day 8 - Assisi - Sorrento. An early start today as we head towards the 'Campania Felix', much loved by the Romans, as is today's included highlight to the Isle of Capri. We board our ferry and sail across the Bay of Naples to the island of the Emperor Tiberius. At leisure perhaps take an excursion to Anacapri with its magnificent views and visit the charming white-washed villa of Dr. Axel Munthe. Later, we return to Sorrento for the night. (BB D)
Day 9 - Sorrento - Rome. This morning's exciting highlight is a visit to the excavations at Pompeii. Here our local guide will bring to life the day to day existence of the early Romans as we explore the city which was preserved by the lava from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Then we head back to Rome for the last night of our Italian Odyssey. (BB)
Day 10 - Depart Rome. Today after breakfast, time to bid a fond farewell to your new friends as your Tour Director arranges a transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (BB)
