| Itinerary: Day 1 Sun (D) - To York and Darlington We travel northwards to the city of York, famous for its Minster, Roman remains, and city walls, where a guided walking tour adds to the enjoyment of the visit. Then continue through Herriot Country and Thirsk (Darrowby of the Herriot books) into County Durham, land of the Prince-Bishops, to stay in a beautiful 17th Century mansion, set in 15 acres of parkland. Blackwell Grange Hotel Day 2 Mon (B, D) - To Edinburgh Lloret de Mar luxury hotelsPast Durham to the Border Country, where we see a famous Border Abbey ruin. On reaching Edinburgh there is a sightseeing tour including the Royal Mile and a visit to Edinburgh Castle, perched on the rock overlooking the picturesque Old Town. An optional Scottish Evening may be available in Edinburgh. Jarvis Mount Royal Hotel Day 3 Tues (B, D) - To Chester Through lovely hill country to England's glorious Lake District passing several of the lakes before reaching Chester. There is a guided walking tour to see the city walls and the famous "Rows" of galleried shops. Jarvis Abbots Well Hotel Day 4 Wed (B) - To Dublin An early start for a drive, which follows the North Wales coast to the island of Anglesey to catch the HSS high-speed catamaran to Ireland. Upon arrival in Dublin there will be a guided tour of the city with include visits to St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College, and the Book of Kells. The rest of the day is at leisure with an optional evening dinner and show. Temple Bar Hotel Day 5 Thurs (B, D) - To Westport We head north for a visit to the Hill of Tara famous as the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. Then travel across to Knock, site of Our Lady's Shrine, for a guided tour. Finally to Westport for our overnight stay. Westport Woods Hotel Day 6 Fri (B, D) - To Tralee A day of glorious scenery - Connemara, Galway Bay, an included visit to the Galway Irish Crystal Heritage Centre, a visit to Dunguaire Castle at Kinvara, a drive along the famous Burren Way Trail, and a visit to the Cliffs of Moher. Finally a short ferry ride across the Shannon and onwards to Tralee. Brandon Hotel Day 7 Sat (B, D) - Ring of Kerry and Killarney A full day excursion around the beautiful Ring of Kerry, with views of Dingle Bay and the Killarney Lakes. Brandon Hotel Day 8 Sun (B, D) - To Wexford Travel through the mountains to stop at Blarney Castle with a chance to kiss the Stone of Eloquence. Then onwards via Waterford to the seaport of Wexford and overnight at a former 'Coaching Inn.' White's Hotel Day 9 Mon (B, D) - To Cardiff An early start for the ferry crossing to Fishguard in Wales and the journey to Cardiff to enjoy a guided tour of the Castle and a Welsh Banquet in the evening. Forte Posthouse Cardiff City Day 10 Tues (B) - To London Leave Cardiff for a visit to Tintern Abbey and the lovely Wye Valley before returning to London, arriving about 6.00pm. |
