GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL WALKING TOURS

THE GROUPS:
The groups have an informal and friendly atmosphere, are small (usually not more than 16 in number), are of all ages, and often from several different countries. The guide will be with you throughout the tour ensuring that the pace is relaxed. It will, of course, add to your enjoyment if you do a little walking prior to the trip to prepare yourself. Please read the tour grades carefully so you may select a tour that is within your capabilities.

ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation is based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room. A double-bedded room is usually allocated for married couples. Single rooms are available on most tours, but since they are usually booked fairly quickly, please book as early as you are able. Single room supplement applies.

MEALS:
A full Irish breakfast, lunch pack, and dinner are included. There is a choice of menu, including a vegetarian option. The tours start with dinner on the first evening of the first day and finish with a meal just before departure on the last day.

GRADING OF TOURS:
These grades are for guidance only. Please remember that the weather may change conditions. For any grade it may, at times, be damp underfoot so waterproof boots with good ankle support and soles with good grip are preferable.
E - Gentle.
Between 6 and 9 miles (10-14 kms) a day. Light boots are preferable.
D - Easy.
Between 8 and 11 miles (13-18 kms) a day. Walking boots are recommended.
C - Fairly Easy.
Between 9 and 12 miles (14-19 kms) a day. Strong waterproof walking boots are desirable.
C+ - Moderate.
Between 9 and 14 miles (14-22 kms) a day. Strong walking boots are essential. Some longer and steeper ascents are involved so you should be in good shape.
B - Energetic.
Between 12 and 16 miles (19-26 kms) a day, with one or two days up to 18 miles (29 kms), or shorter distances involving much steep or rough ground. Strong waterproof walking boots are essential. Some rough mountain walking is involved so you must be fit, and previous experience of hard mountain walking is desirable.

FOOTWEAR:
The ground underfoot varies from good footpaths to rocky paths with the occasional steep gradient, which may be wet & muddy. We recommend walking boots with good support for the ankles and commando (cleated) type soles. For your own enjoyment please MAKE SURE that they are WELL-WORN-IN and COMFORTABLE. From past experience we recommend, for comfort, that you require at least a new and clean pair of thin socks underneath a pair of thick long socks (in which you can tuck the lower part of your trousers) each day. This may require a boot one size larger than your usual fitting. If you have a favourite product to protect from blisters (sometimes known as 2nd skin), bring a supply of these with you.

WHAT TO BRING:
While out walking you will only need a small rucksack to carry your rainproofs and lunch packet. Information on suitable clothing and footwear to bring is found with the tour information. If you bring a vacuum flask the hotel would be happy to fill it if you bring it down to breakfast. If you are in doubt about any item, please telephone us.

PRICES:
Prices shown are based on current exchange rates and may fluctuate. The price includes value added tax at 17.5%, all transportation for scheduled excursions, entry fees to attractions as stated per tour, services of the tour guide, and all meals as stated above. There are no extras on the tours, but transportation to and from the tours is additional. You only require pocket money for your own drinks or souvenirs. Please note that the guides are not permitted to accept gratuities. All rates quoted here are per person in U.S. dollars.

BOOKING:
Please contact us via telephone, email, or fax. At the time of booking you will be given complete information on deposit, payments, and travel insurance which we strongly recommend. We will be pleased to assist you with all other aspects of the trip, such as your air reservations, car rentals, rail tickets, hotels, etc.
