The Santa Monica Museum of Natural History in the Classroom

Along with hosting in-class presentations and hands-on projects for schools and organizations, the SMMNH web site and CD Rom programs are excellent resources for fossil and mineral education. For classrooms with Internet capabilities and for students studying at home, our web site can be used for identifying and reading about the characteristics of a particular specimen. With the CD Rom programs, users can instantly load and print the exhibits.

The CD Rom programs are designed for in and out of the classroom. Our basic program displays a variety of fossils from around the world, geologic time scales, maps, and diagrams of plant and animal structure. The teacher's-edition program is designed for classrooms of all ages and academic levels. Included in the teacher's-edition are lesson plans and instructions on how to incorporate the Museum's photographs,diagrams, and other materials into classroom projects.
